DÉCOR + DECORATION |
Apart from figurines, almost all BC Ceramics pieces were decorated with décors, native motifs, surface textures, and colour glazes unique to the company. Some of the most common décors were:
Northern Lights Mardi Gras Autumn Leaves Dogwood Bamboo Flamenco Carnival Windblown |
Pussy Willow Mosaic Crackshell Overflow Mink Orange Tropical Fish Butterfly Jewels Plain |
BC Ceramics also capitalized on public interest in native motifs which were applied in relief or painted on the surface of selected items. Both glossy and matte glazes are common, often in several colours - “twintone”, mottled, or speckled - or in monochrome, plain black, gray, cream or white. Dimpled, rough surfaces and sgraffito markings are also evident on bowls and vases. Here are some of the most common decorations: Click thumbnails for larger view.
